DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, on Friday categorically said Latif Siddique has put himself in a tight corner not the government demeaning Hajj and Tabligh Jamaat.
She came up with the observations in the question-answer session of the press briefing at Gono Bhaban on the outcome of her attending United Nations General Assembly from September 22-29.
Sheikh Hasina also said the Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Latif Siddique has to pay the price for his unwanted remarks.
The premier also said that the process of dismissing a cabinet member will follow the “rules of business” of the Constitution of the country.
Bangladesh was praised in United Nation (UN) for several successes including Millennium Development Goals (MDG), she added.
The premier said that the world leaders also admired and thanked for the initiatives taken by the government against militancy and terrorism.
Moreover the world leaders praised our initiatives for women education and our socio-economic development, PM added.
She further said that Bangladesh has created a very good image in United Nation General Assembly.
The PM delivered her speech in 69th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 27.
Sheikh Hasina also had talk with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, President of USA Barack Obama and other world leaders in the meeting.
Earlier on 22 Hasina reached New York with 184-member delegation to join the UNGA.
She, on September 23, attended the inaugural session of the Climate Conference and delivered her speech at the ‘National Action and Ambition Announcement’ session of the conference.
She joined a reception hosted by US president Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at Waldorf Astoria the same day.
Sheikh Hasina attended the opening session of the UN assembly on September 24 and joined a reception hosted by UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon.
The Bangladesh premier took part in a high-level discussion of the Global Education First Initiative the same day.
On September 25, Sheikh Hasina joined a luncheon to be hosted by American Chamber and American Business Council.
She joined a discussion of the Commonwealth heads of the government the same day.
The prime minister attended a summit on ‘The International Peacekeeping Operation’ at the UN Headquarters on September 26.
She joined a function marking the 40th anniversary of Bangladesh's UN membership the same day.
Sheikh Hasina addressed a press conference at Bangladesh's Permanent Mission on September 26.
On September 27, on the sidelines of the UNGA, the Bangladesh PM held a meeting with her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in a bilateral discussion.
She left New York September 29 for London and stayed there for two days. Hasina came back Dhaka in a Bangladesh Biman flight after one-hour travel break at Sylhet.
