MOULVIBAZAR: A college student drowned in a pond in Gankol area under Barlekha upazila of the district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Parama Kapali, 22, daughter of Shubendra Kapali and a student of class (XI) of Sujanagar Pata College.

Local sources said Parama went for bathing at the pond adjacent to their house in the noon and went missing.

After a search, locals noticed her floating body at the pond in the afternoon.

However, on information, police rushed to the place and recovered the body.

Sub-Inspector of Barlekha Thana Bikash Chandra confirmed the matter to banglanews.
