DHAKA: Bangladesh will host the 9th Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) meeting at Dhaka in 2016.

The country has won the campaign on Tuesday in both the Steering Group and Troika Meetings of GFMD held in Geneva -- said a press release  issued by External Publicity Wing of Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

However, Turkey would host the 8th GFMD meeting in 2015, release added.

Since the inception of GFMD in 2007, this is the first time that Bangladesh is going to host this important Forum meeting in the country, it added.

Every year, the Forum is usually attended by hundreds of representatives from around 150 countries of the world.
