DHAKA: Panic gripped the residents of a multi-storied building when a fire broke out at the high-rise at Shahjadpur of Gulshan area in the city on Friday noon.

The fire originated at the building consists of shops on the ground floor and residential flats on other floors around 11:45am, said Shahjadi Sultana, duty officer of fire service office.

She also told banglanews that on information, two fire-fighting units from Baridhara fire station rushed to the spot. But locals extinguished the fire before firefighters could reach the spot.

No causality was reported, she added.
