JOYPURHAT: Six workers including a woman sustained bullet injures when a robber-gang fired gunshots during a robbery at a potato cold storage in Boiragipara area under Kalai upazila of the district early Sunday.

Tarik Hossain, manager of Southpole Cold Storage, told banglanews, “A masked robber gang, numbering 15 to 20, stormed into the storage around 2:00am and started firing indiscriminately that left six workers including a woman injured.”

The robbers vandalized the storage office, looted Tk 10.5 lakhs and fled the scene, he added.

The injured are Sirajul, Mamunur Rashid, Ahedul, Mozzammel, Shah Alam and an unidentified woman. 

They were rushed to Zila Adhunik Hospital initially and later were shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College of Bogra for better treatment.

District Additional Superintendent of Police Abdul Mannan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On information, police arrived in the spot, ASP Mannan added.
