TANGAIL: Three minor boys were seriously injured when an abandoned mortar shell exploded near the Maidarchala Field Firing Range in Ghatail Cantonment area of the district on Tuesday afternoon.

The injured are--Ashik, 13, Tushar, 12 and Rayhan, 12, students of class-iv and residents of the area—were rushed to Ghatail Combined Military Hospital (CMH) immediately.

The children were playing near the Army firing range around 3:00pm. They found the abandoned mortar shell and started playing with that. At one stage, the mortar shell exploded suddenly, leaving the trio injured critically.

Officer-in-Charge of Ghatail Thana Fazlul Kabir confirmed the matter to banglanews.
