DHAKA: Special security measures have been taken at the important city points over the verdict of Intellectuals’ killer Mir Quasem Ali.
Law enforcers were seen to patrolling in High court, press club, Doyel Chattar area since early morning Sunday. Convoys deployed in front of High Court and Press club.
Vehicle movements have also been stopped in the street from High Court to Doyel Chattar. Barricades of heavy barbed wire-boxes are placed on the entrance points.
While talking with Banglanews Ramna Zone Assistant Commissioner (AC) Shibli Noman said, security measures have been tightened as Jamaat called hartal is underway. Besides, the international crimes tribunal is to utter its verdict on war crimes case against Mir Quasem Ali.
RAB personnel and plain dressed police men are kept on alert to avert any untoward situations, Shibly Noman added.
Meanwhile, the jail police have taken Mir Quasem Ali to the premises of International Crimes Tribunal.
Chairman of Tribunal-2 Justice Obaidul Hasan will pass the verdict. The two other members of the tribunal Justice Muzibur Rahman Mia and Justice Shahinul Islam will also read out the parts of verdict.
On October 30, ICT-2 fixed November 2 (today) for the verdict.
