SATKHIRA: A commander of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was killed here in smugglers’ attack at Bhomra immigration check-post on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Subedar Nazrul Islam, 45, the commander of Bhomra BGB camp.

Sources told banglanews that the BGB man died around 10:30am following assaults by two smugglers while checking their bodies on suspicion.

However, Satkhira-38 BGB battalion commander Major Najir Ahmed Bakshi confirming the matter said that the both smugglers have already been detained by the law enforcers.

One of them has been identified as Anwar Hossain Polash, resident of Mahmudpur under Sadar upazila of the district, he added.
