MUNSHIGAN:  Several hundred vehicles fell stranded on the both side of river Padma as Ferry services at Mawa-Kawrakandi crossing points has been disrupted due to heavy fog since Thursday night.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Mawa jetty supervisor Nurul Amin told banglanews at 4:00am on Friday that ferry movement become slow due to fog and narrow approach road of Shimulia no. 3 jetty took more time for ferry loading-unloading.

For these reasons, pressure of vehicles appeared on the both sides of the river, he added.

Thousands of vehicles’ passengers are suffering from immense miseries due to winter wind, especially woman and child.

Mawa highway police sources said law enforcing agencies have been patrolling in the jetties and the adjacent area to ensure security to the trapped people.
