DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the demise of Independence Award winner eminent artist Qayyum Chowdhury.

In a condolence message on Sunday night, PM said, “Qayyum Chowdhury was not only a painter, but also had great contribution in every movement of the nation.”

Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Earlier in the night, Qayyum Chowdhury passed away at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in city Sunday night about an hour after he became unconscious during his speech on the fourth-day of Bengal Foundation organized classical music festival at Bangladesh Army Stadium at 8:40pm.
