Defamation case against state minister, No substance, court says and rejects

Panchagarh: A Panchagarh court Wednesday rejected a defamation case filed against Advocate Qumrul Islam, State Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.    

Chief Judicial Magistrate Dilip Kumar Debnath ordered the rejection of the case after hearing. The Magistrate said in the order, “The case is rejected as there are no logical grounds found for proceeding on.”   

Md Yunus Sheikh, district General Secretary of JASUS, filed the case against the minister Monday for calling former president Ziaur Rahman, also the founder of the BNP, ‘spy’ of Pakistan during the liberation war in 1971 in a meeting of Biswa Kabitakantha held at the National Press Club on May 21.     

Lawyer Advocate Adam Sufi as plaintiff of the case said,” We will take the next initiative after getting the papers on the order.”
