Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited four police stations in the capital on Monday morning (March 10) to assess law enforcement preparedness and operational efficiency ahead of Ramadan.
The adviser inspected Tejgaon, Dhanmondi, Shahbagh, and New Market police stations, reviewing their reception areas, detention facilities, and overall infrastructure.
He engaged with on-duty officers, providing directives to enhance vigilance and efficiency in maintaining public order.
During his visit, he also stopped at several key checkpoints across Dhaka, speaking with officers in charge and monitoring joint force patrol teams.
He emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring security during Ramadan by increasing police presence in crime-prone areas and establishing over a hundred checkpoints at strategic locations.
Speaking to journalists, the adviser reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance approach to crime.
“Those involved in organized mob activities, theft, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, and crimes against women and children will be brought to justice. There will be no exemptions,” he said, directing law enforcement agencies to take stricter measures against offenders.
He further noted that the inspections aimed to ensure that police stations and officers remain alert and effective in their duties during the holy month. “Our goal is to maintain law and order and protect citizens throughout Ramadan,” he added.
