GOALANDA (RAJBARI): Ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia river route resumed from Monday morning after a five-hour suspension due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
Sources said six ferries fully loaded with passengers and vehicles forced to anchor in the mid-river that causes huge suffering during the cold weather.
The authorities concerned suspended the movement of all types of water vessels including all six ferries on the route at around 2:15am to avoid accidents.
However, after around five hours of suspension, vessels plying became normal around 7:30am as the density of fog reduced.
Due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, Utility ferry Madhobilota, K-type ferry Kaberi and three Ro-Ro ferries Shahjalal, Bhasha Shaheed Barkat, Enayetpuri loaded with vehicles got stuck in the middle of the river, said sources concerned.
Hundreds of vehicles got stuck on both sides of Daulatdia-Paturia for five hours due to the disruption.
