SUNDARBAN (BAGERHAT): A three-member probe committee was formed on Wednesday to investigate sink of the oil-tanker carrying 357,664 liters of furnace oil in a river in the Sundarbans.

On the other hand, two rescue vessels of BIWTA, Prattay and Nirbhik have been headed to the spot from Barisal and Narayanganj to rescue the oil tanker.

The rescue ships are likely to reach there at evening.

DFO of East Sundarbans Forest Department Amir Hossain Chowdhury confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that the committee led-by ACF OF Chandpai range Mohammad Belayet Hossain will investigate the oil tanker sinking incident and determine the amount of loss.

The forest department, however, said that the amount of loss may extend to TK 100 crore.

The master of tanker, Mokhlesur is still missing.

However, earlier on Tuesday, the oil-tanker, 'OT Southern Star 7', carrying 357,664 liters of furnace oil sank into Shyla River in Chandpai range of Sundarbans after it was hit by a cargo vessel around 5:00am.
