DHAKA: Ferry services on Mawa-Kawrakandi route on the River Padma resumed in Thursday morning after a 12-hour suspension due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.
Earlier, eight ferries, carrying vehicles and passengers, were forced to anchor in the mid river as those distracted from course due to blurred visibility caused by heavy fog.
Then authorities were forced to halt the movement all kinds of ferries at 9:00pm Wednesday.
Ferry began plying at 9:00am on Thursday. All anchored ferries left for the respective destination.
Tailback, caused by the service halt, on the both side of the river began decreasing.
An on-duty officer of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) of Mawa office confirmed the matter to banglanews.
