DHAKA: Heavy fog forced the authorities concerned to suspend ferry services at Mawa-Kawrakandi water ways on the River Padma since Thursday night.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) assistant manager Chandra Shekhar of Mawa office told banglanews that ferry service suspended at 11:00pm due to poor visibility of the routes caused by thick fog.

The services will resume after visibility returns, he added.

Long tailback appeared on the both sides of the river on the water way.

Low visibility caused by thick fog has been hampering the ferry services on Mawa-Kawrakandi and Daulatdia-Paturia waterways on the River Padma for several days.
