CHITTAGONG: A fire broke out at Singapore Cooperative Market in Halisahar area of the port city on Wednesday evening.
Agrabad Fire Service control room operator Bisu Das told banglanews, some 18 vans of five fire fighting units doused the blaze after trying for two hours around 8:30pm.
He further said they are yet to prepare any report on the loss of properties.
President of Singapore Cooperative Market M Tajul Islam, however, claimed that the fire gutted around 300 shops and 50 houses.
Deputy Assistant Director of Divisional Fire Service and Civil Defence Jasim Uddin told banglanews that they had formed three-member committee to find out the reason of fire.
