DHAKA: A domestic help allegedly committed suicide on love affairs by jumping from an 18-storey building in Boro Moghbazar area of the city.

The deceased was identified as Fatema Akhter, 20, daughter of Jaban Ali, hail from Madhupurkanda village under Fulpur upazila in Mymensingh district.

Ramna Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mashiur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Citing locals, police said Fatema might have committed suicide around 9:00am after being upset as she was informed that her boyfriend is a married person.

On information, police recovered the body around 11:30am and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy, the OC added.

Ramna Thana duty-officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Jewel Miah said Fatema had been working in a flat in Century Tower of the area.

None was arrested in this connection, the OC said.
