CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Bangladesh-India joint forces in a drive on Tuesday destroyed poppy cultivation on 75 acres of fields in frontier areas of Shahbajpur union of Shibganj upazila in the district.

Sources told banglanews that drug-peddlers of both sides of the frontier were involved in poppy cultivation in the areas for past couple of years.

However, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) jointly destroyed the poppy fields in a drive from Tuesday morning to afternoon.
