1 succumbs to blast injuries

CHITTAGONG: A man, who sustained injuries in a blast during a jewelry shop robbing in the port city, succumbed at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) early Sunday.
 
The deceased was identified as Sayed, 45, a jewelry shop employee.

CMCH police outpost In-Charge Zahir Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On Saturday night, a gang of robber stormed into two jewelry shops in Alkaran area of the port city, blasted bombs, leaving 10 people injured.

The injured were undergoing treatment at CMCH. Meanwhile, police detained two robber suspects in this connection.

One of them was held with a pistol from Pahartali area and seized a microbus, which is believed to have been used in the robbing, from Madarbari area Pahartali area.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner SM Tanvir Arafat confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Raids were underway to nab the other robbers, said the commissioner.
