DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will scrutinize the freedom fighter status of its nine officials, including the director general (legal and prosecution).
Except the commission’s DG Kamrul Hasan Molla, the rest are directors Golam Yahia and Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan, deputy directors Dhali Abdus Samad and SM Golam Mawla Siddique, former deputy director Ranjan Kumar Majumder, assistant inspector Abdus Sobhan, and court assistants Nurul Islam and Ishak Fakir.
The ACC, in this regard, has sent a letter on Monday to the ministry of liberation war seeking information the officials whether they took part in the country’s war of independence or not.
The anti-graft watchdog body, moreover, has asked the ministry to send all the files and evidences, including the freedom fighter certificates of the nine men.
Nevertheless, the ACC came up with the decision of rechecking its officials’ freedom fighter status in the wake of reported forgery by the government officials in obtaining the certificates.
A two-member committee, headed by the commission Deputy Director Zulfiqar Ali, was formed on October 22 to investigate into the allegations.
The other committee member is Assistant Director Rafiqul Islam.
