DHAKA: President Abdul Hamid along with his wife Rashida Khanom on Tuesday afternoon hosted a reception at Bangabhaban on the occasion of country's 44th Victory Day.

The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also joined the function.

The President and the Prime Minister together exchanged greetings with war-wounded freedom fighters, families of the martyrs and other guests at the function, and assured them of all-out government support for their welfare.

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, opposition leader Raushon Ershad, PM's special envoy HM Ershad, the Chief Justice, cabinet members, PM’s advisers, diplomats, senior lawyers, Supreme Court judges, election commissioners, the chiefs of three defense forces, members of parliament, senior political leaders, senior civil and military officers, academics, business community leaders, senior journalists, artistes and distinguished citizens also joined the function.

Patriotic songs were sung by Subir Nandi and Shakila Zafar, among other renowned artistes, in the function.
