‘Killing Bangabandhu means killing spirit of liberation’

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday categorically said killing of Bangabandhu means the killing spirit of liberation war and the independence of the country.

“The tradition of politics of murder started after the killing of Bangabandhu. Later, the four national leaders were killed,” she said.

The premier, also ruling Awami League president, made the observations while addressing a discussion marking the ‘Victory Day’, organised by Awami League, at Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh in Farmgate area in the city in the afternoon.

She also said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia does not abide by the verdicts of the High Court and any other person.

The premier also said, “She (Khaleda Zia) also said she did not abide by independence.”

Shekh Hasina: “BNP founder Ziaur Rahman rehabilitated Jamaat-e-Islami in the political arena of Bangladesh.”

Deputy leader at Jatiya Sangsad Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury presided over the program.
