DNCC evicts illegal establishments in city

DHAKA: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) conducted an eviction drive in city’s Karwan Bazar area to free the roads and footpaths from illegal establishments on Thursday.

At least 500 illegal shops and settlements were evicted during the drive launched from 2:00pm and continued till 4:00pm.

Executive magistrate Ibadat Hossain led the drive.

Moreover, four shop owners were fined Tk 10,000 each for having no license and selling foods in dirty condition. Another shop owner was fined Tk 5,000 for occupying roads.

Ibadat Hossain told banglanews that the illegal settlements are obstructing the roads and footpaths. So, people face immense sufferings to move easily, he added.

He also said that such drives would be continued to keep the roads and footpaths of the city free from illegal settlements.
