MUNSHIGANJ: Heavy fog forced the authorities concerned to suspend plying of all kinds of water vessels including ferry services at Mawa-Kawrakandi water ways on the River Padma early Friday.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources told banglanews that ferry service suspended around 00:10am due to poor visibility of the routes caused by thick fog.
The services will resume after visibility returns, sources added.
At least seven ferries got stuck in the middle of the river due to poor visibility, sources added.
Long tailback appeared on the both sides of the river on the water way.
Low visibility caused by thick fog has been hampering the ferry services on Mawa-Kawrakandi and Daulatdia-Paturia waterways on the River Padma for several days.
