‘CPA, IPU posts purchased’

DHAKA: BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moin Khan alleged that the incumbent government purchased the top positions of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) elections.

The BNP leader was addressing a discussion titled ‘Spirit of Liberation War and today’s Bangladesh’ organized by Swadhinata Forum at Dhaka Reporters Unity Auditorium on Friday.

Recently, Parliament speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury was elected as chairman of CPA and Saber Hossain Chowdhury made president of Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Moreover, Bangladesh became a member of United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Abdul Moin said current parliament is a fake parliament and not represent people of the country as the January 5 national election was voter less. So, the incumbent government is also fake government.

Referring to a minister’s recent acknowledgement of buying a post of ITU, Moin said it proves that AL is expert in purchase not only in Bangladesh but also from international arena.

Now, the people want to know whether two other posts of CPA and IPU had been bought, the BNP standing committee member added.

Moin also claimed that AL introduced Bangladesh to the world as a terrorist country to gain their interest. But their attempt had been failed.

Pointing at the negative news published in London based media ‘The Economist’ against Bangladesh, the BNP leader said AL distorting the history of the country. But, in future, BNP will hand over a corrected history enthused by former president Ziaur Rahman’s ideals.

Moin Khan opined that Bangladeshi people joined the liberation war in 1971 to establish democracy and economic freedom in the country, but AL destroyed both.

Swadhinata Forum president Abu Naser Mohammad Rahmatullah chaired the program where Jubo Dal President Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Assistant Information and Research Secretary Habibur Rahman Habib, BNP leader Barrister Parvez Ahmed, among others, were present.
