DHAKA: People on Friday evening came to pay their respects for the fallen in the Peshawar school massacre that left 141 people dead, most of them children, in Pakistan’s deadliest terrorist attack.
Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka held a candlelight vigil and doa for the victims on its premises in city’s Gulshan area.
People from all walks of life, members of the diplomatic corps, Pakistani community, officers and staff members of the Pakistan High Commission along with their families attended the event with great solemnity.
Acting High Commissioner of Pakistan Ahmed Hossain Dayo said, “People of Pakistan and people around the globe including Bangladesh have expressed deep shock and revulsion at the despicable act of terrorism perpetrated on the school children.
Pakistan nation and the world will stand united in condemning this heinous crime and remain resolute in the commitment to eliminate terrorism, he added.
Besides, diplomats and eminent Bangladeshis singed a condolence book opened in the High Commission from December 17.
On December 16, Taliban militants gunned down children and teachers at a military school in Peshawar. The attack left 141 victims dead, 132 of them children.
