MUNSHIGANJ: A driver and helper were killed as a stranded truck started running all of a sudden and ran over them in Baluakandi area at Gazaria upazila in the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nilu Mia, 27, the driver of the truck and helper Firoz, 23.

Bhaberchar Highway Police outpost sergeant Saiful Islam said that the Chittagong-bound truck went out of services in the area around 6:30am. “The truck suddenly started running and rammed both its driver and helper while they were repairing, leaving the duo dead on the spot,” he said.

Police, however, sent the bodies to the Munshiganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
