DHAKA: Airport customs intelligence seized a huge amount of abortion medicines and 320 cartons cigarettes of different brand from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Saturday.

The medicines and cigarettes were seized from a flight of Pakistan Airways coming from Karachi, assistant commissioner of airport customs intelligence Umme Nahida Akhter told banglanews.

She said that the authorities sized the goods in the noon.

“The recovered medicines include 4,200 pieces of Ritalin Tablets (10mg), 450 Proluton Depot injections and 40 Kenalog in Orabase ointments,” she added. 

Nahida added: “Of the seized cigarettes, there are 177 cartons of ESSE Lights, 80 cartons of ESSE Special Gold, 58 cartons of ESSE Black and five cartons of Benson & Hedges.”

However, the goods were lying down in abandon condition in Belt-4 area of airport customs hall, said the official.
