DHAKA: Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh (DCAB) on Sunday elected Masud Karim of the Daily Jugantor and Bashir Ahmed of the Amar Desh as its new president and general secretary for 2015 at its annual general meeting (AGM).
The AGM and the election were held at the National Press Club. The 11-member DCAB Executive committee for next year was elected unopposed.
Other elected office-bearers are Vice President Angur Nahar Monty (Bhorer Kagoj), Joint Secretary Khurram Zaman (banglanews24.com), Treasurer Rabiul Haque (Ajker Potrika) and Office Secretary AK Mohammed Moinuddin (UNB).
Five elected members are Badiul Alam (News Today), Mainul Alam (Ittefaq), Mizanur Rahman (Manab Zamin), Salam Jubair (Sangbad) and Shahab Uddin Sagor (Manabkantha).
Earlier, the AGM of the DCAB was held at the same venue with outgoing President Mainul Alam in the chair. Outgoing General Secretary Angur Nahar Monty and Treasurer Rabiul Haque presented the annual report in the AGM.
Former Bureau Chief of Associated Press (AP) Farid Hossain was the chief election commissioner along with other two election commissioners senior journalist M Shafiqul Karim and Nizamuddin Ahmed.
