4-tier security for Christmas, 31st night

DHAKA: The four-tier security measures have been taken in the city and elsewhere of the country on the occasion of Christmas and 31st night.

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday made the disclosure while talking to reporters at his secretariat office after a meeting on law-and-order situation ahead of the occasions.

He said additional police forces would be deployed in the churches and Christian-dominated areas across the country. So, the Christian community can celebrate their biggest festival without any hindrance.

However, the security measures will also be beefed up for the celebration of 31st night. Restriction on the movement of transport in city’s Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi and Farmgate areas will be imposed to avert any untoward situation, he added.

State Minister for Social Welfare Pramod Mankin, Home Affairs secretary Dr M Mozammel Haque, Inspector General of Police Hassan Mahmud Khandaker and additional secretary for home affairs Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed were present.

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Fire Service were also present at the meeting.
