SARIAKANDI, BOGRA: A man slaughtered his wife over dowry in Amtali Uttarpara area under Sariakandi upazila of the district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Nazma, 22, wife of killer Sirajul Islam of the area.

Victim’s father Abdul Khalek said that his daughter got married with Sirajul around seven months ago. Nazma was often beaten by her husband and in-laws on demand of dowry, he added.

However, as a sequel, Sirajul chopped his wife Nazma mercilessly around 11:00am, leaving her injured critically.

She was rushed to hospital where on-duty doctor declared her dead.

The body was sent to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue.

Sariakandi Thana Police Inspector Waheduzzaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Sirajul fled the scene immediately after the incident.
