PABNA: Local Government Division of LGRD Ministry on Monday suspended the Atgharia Upazila Chairman Maulana Zahurul Islam, also district Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer as a Pabna court accepted a chargesheet in a case filed against him.

The decision was implemented after the Local Government Division issued a notification in this regard on Monday and sent a fax message to deputy commissioner of the district.

Atgharia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Alimun Razib confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The notification said as per section 13 (B) (9) of Upazila Parishad (Amendment) Act-2011 Atgharia Upazila Chairman Maulana Zahurul Islam was discharged temporarily.

Meanwhile, Maulana Zahurul Islam said his opponents filed four cases against him vindictively after loosing in the upazila parishad elections.
