DHAKA: The 3rd death anniversary of veteran Awami League (AL) leader, also Liberation War organizer, Abdur Razzak is being observed on Tuesday with due respect.
Abdur Razzak, a former minister, passed away at the age of 69 at King’s College Hospital of London on the day of 2011.
AL chalked out elaborate programs to observe the death anniversary of its veteran leader.
Leaders and activists of AL and its front organizations paid tributes to the veteran leader placing wreaths at his grave in the city’s Banani Graveyard in the morning.
Fateha will be offered and milad mahfil will be held there seeking blessings for the salvation of his departed soul.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote has organized a discussion in city’s Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at 10:30am to mark the anniversary. Another discussion will be held at Dhaka University’s Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) at 3:00pm.
Born on Aug 1, 1941 at village South Damuda under Damuda upazila of Shariatpur district, Abdur Razzak passed School Secondary Certificate examinations in 1960 and got admitted in Dhaka College that year.
He began his political career while studying at Dhaka College and played significant role as East Pakistan Chhatra League’s central committee member.
The long-serving AL veteran was made the minister of the ministry of Water Resources of Bangladesh Government in 1996.
