TANGAIL: At least 10 people were killed and three others injured as a truck crushed into a human hauler, locally known as tempo, in Ashura area under Madhupur upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Salma Begum, 30, wife of Rezaul Karim, their sons Sadiqul, 10, and Samiul, 8, Rahima Begum,40, wife of Abdur Rahim of Masterpara area, Habibur Rahman, 50, of Roktipara village, Firoza Begum, 45, wife of Jalil, her son-in-law Sazid, 4, of East Gangair village, tempo driver Abdul Quader, 65, of Gangair village, Asor Ali, 40, of Norkona village and Hena Akhter, 35, of Shahpur under Ghatail upazila.
Officer-in-Charge Mazibur Rahman of Madhupur Thana said a Tangail-bound rashly driven truck from Madhupur ran over a Madhupur-bound tempo in the area around 12:15pm, leaving 10 passengers of the tempo dead and three others injured critically.
The injured were taken to the Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.
