SHERPUR: Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident in Kumri-Battala area under Sadar upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The deceased were identified as Alimul Haque Arif, 32, son of Abdul Haque and Joynal Abedin Junu, 30, son of Ashraf Ali, residents of the upazila.

Witnesses said that a rashly driven truck rammed the motorcycle carrying them on Jheenaigati-Sherpur road in the area around 9:30pm, leaving them dead on the spot.

The bodies of the duo were sent to Sherpur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police seized the truck but could not nab the driver as he fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Sherpur Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector Johur Ali confirmed the matter to banglanews.
