Clash, vandalism after Jihad’s rescue

DHAKA: Immediately after the four-year-old Jihad had been rescued from the deep well shaft, hundreds of people vandalized different establishments in Shahjahanpur area on Saturday afternoon.

Aggrieved locals showed the protest as fire service failed to rescue the trapped boy after about 23-hour effort.

Shahjahanpur Thana OC Zakir Hossain told banglanews that they are trying to bring the situation under control.

Jihad was rescued at 3:00pm and rushed immediately to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at 3:35pm Saturday.

He, however, was rescued moments after Fire Services and Civil Defense Director General (DG) Ali Ahmed Khan declared their operation postponed at 2:30pm.
