DHAKA: Thousands of people are celebrating the New Year across Bangladesh as elsewhere of the world on Thursday. People cheerfully welcomed New Year’s Eve at the very fist moment of 2015, painfully saying goodbye to the very last moment of 2014.

In the city, revelers converged at the posh areas including Gulshan, Banani, Dhanmondi and Dhaka University campus late Wednesday to welcome the New Year. There were big fireworks with hundreds of people coming together and celebrating the eve.

Despite chill outside, at 12:01am on Thursday, revelers enjoyed New Year arrival lighting up fireworks, setting campfire, singing songs and dancing.

Hatiljheel was the centre of the cerebration in the city. People from all walks of life came there to welcome the New Year. Posh hotels arranged lots of events on the occasion.

A celebration mood catches allover in Dhaka. Other than the posh areas, city dwellers welcomed the New Year, holding cultural functions.
