MAGURA: Miscreants chopped a youth and snatched his motorbike in Magura town of the district Thursday night.
The victim was identified as Mintu Mollah (30), son of Kalam Mollah, a resident of Baraipara village of Shripur upazia of the district.
Raisuzzaman of Nanduyali area told banglanews that a group of miscreants chopped Mintu on Magura-Shripur road and snatched his motor cycle.
Rescuing him local admitted Mintu to Magura Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Magura Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Bishwajit Roy told banglanews that on-duty doctor declared Mintu dead at 9:30pm on Thursday. But the SI could not say about the motive of killing.
Hospital’s emergency department physician told banglanews that Mintu was hurt in different parts of his body including head. He died due to excessive blooding, he added.
A relative of the victim, Turan Mia told banglanews that Mintu had been working in Saudi Arabia for a long. He returned to Bangladesh and married Mahmudullah’s daughter.
The victim had been residing on JTC Road in Magura town for six months.
