City bomb blast kills AL leader

DHAKA: A local Krishak League leader was killed and four others were injured as a bomb was exploded in city’s Islambagh area on Sunday afternoon. 

The deceased was identified as M Idris, 32, son of Abdul Mannan of Shahidnagar area of Lalbagh.

He was joint general secretary of Dhaka City Corporation (South) No 24 Ward Krishak League, a front organization of the ruling Awami League.

Deceased brother-in-law Abdur Rob said the duty doctor declared Idris dead when he was taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition. 

Acting camp police in-charge M Sentu of DMCH confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said the bomb was blasted in the Eidgah premises in the area where DHAKA-7 MP Selim was conducting arbitration, leaving M Idris dead and four others injured.

The injured people were rushed to the DMCH.

Manir Hossain, one of injured persons, said the blast did not harm Hazi Selim.
