DHAKA: Two activists of Jubo Dal, youth wing of BNP, were reportedly shot dead in a clash with law enforcing in Chowmuhani Bazar area under Begumganj upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Rubel, 25 and Mohin Uddin, 30.

Jubo Dal upazila unit convener Samsuddin Swapon claimed that police shot them around 5:00pm in the area.

However, Rubel was rushed to Noakhali Sadar Hospital and Mohin was admitted to a clinic.

They succumbed to their injuries in the evening, Swapon added. However, some 30 others were also injured in this incident.

Witnesses said that several hundreds of BNP leaders and activists brought out a procession supporting the nationwide blockade in the area in the afternoon.

At one stage, the law enforcers barricaded them which triggered a fierce clash between police and blockaders.

The agitated BNP men hurled brickbats aiming police personnel, vandalized some 30-35 shops and torched several vehicles.

Noakhali Police Superintendent (SP) Ilias Sharif said that the law enforcers opened fire to bring the situation under control.
