KUSHTIA: A schoolboy was killed and five others were injured in a road mishap in Patikabari village under Mirpur upazila of the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Akash, 5, a class I student of Patikabari Bangabandhu Kindergarten, son of Asadul Islam of the area.

Police said the mishap occurred when a locally-made human hauler, know as Nosiman, ran over a group of people in the village around at 10:30am as its driver lost control over steering, killing Akash on the spot and injuring five others.

The boy was returning home after attending the school.

The injured were admitted at the Kushtia General Hospital.

Locals caught the helper of the human hauler, gave a mass beating and handed over him to police while the driver managed to escape the scenes.

Police recovered the body and sent to the hospital for morgue.
