DHAKA: At least nine people, including four Ijtema devotees, were killed and another injured in separate road accidents in the city and Dhamrai upazila of the district on Friday.
Banglanews Staff Correspondent reports: A recklessly-driven bus hit another bus, standing beside road, in front of Tripti Hotel in Shahjadpur area of the city at 7:30am, killing one on the spot and injuring three others.
The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where two succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased were identified as Abu Taher Bhuiyan, 60, a security guard, and rickshaw pullers M Liton, 30, and Billal Hossain, 30.
Injured Yadul, 16, told banglanews that the accident took place when he was selling bread and halua there and three others were standing in front of his stall.
Gulshan Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
On information, police went to the spot and seized the bus of Supravat Paribahan (Dhaka Metro-Ja 11-2758), said the OC.
Banglanews Manikganj Correspondent added: a Manikganj-bound passenger bus collided with a Biswa Ijtema-bound private car in Joypura bus stand area under Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district around 9:00am, killing three riders of the car on the spot and injuring its diver critically.
Injured driver was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Dhamrai Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Sekendar confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In another development, two people, including a woman, were killed in separate road mishaps in city’s Uttara and Sher-e-Banglanagar areas in early hours of the day.
One of the deceased was identified as M Milon 25, son of Abdul Ali, hailed from Bhola district.
Uttara East thana Officer-in-Charge Ali Hossain Khan and Sher-e-Banglanagar thana OC Kamal Hossain confirmed the matters to banglanews.
