DHAKA: Home affairs ministry ordered Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner to take action against the distribution of anti-government leaflets in Secretariat in city.
In this regard, the ministry issued a letter signed by deputy secretary (political branch) M Habibur Rahman of the ministry.
He told banglanews that the ministry ordered the police administration to nab those involved with the activities and take measures against them.
Earlier on Wednesday, a group of pro-BNP officials in Secretariat allegedly dropped leaflets tilted ‘Jege Utho’ published under the name of ‘Deshpremik Karmakarta-Karmachari’ from a building.
Later, police seized the leaflets from No 8 building of the Secretariat.
A security police of the Secretariat said some pro-BNP officials threw leaflets from the No 8 building or another one.
Assistant police commissioner Monirul Islam of the Secretariat security section confirmed the matter.
After the incident, police started looking into the matter. They have already collected the leaflets and Close Circuit (CC) Camera footage.
Confirming the matter, an officer of Special Branch of Police said that the pro-BNP officials threw the leaflets for the media from a building. But, the law enforcers seized them earlier.
