DHAKA: National Identity Card Registration wing director general Sultanuzzaman Mohammad Saleh said that the smartcards for national identity will be used as e-passports in future.

He made the disclosure at a press conference held at Election Commission Media Centre in the city at 1:45pm on Sunday.

Mentioning the possible multipurpose use of smartcards, he said, our smartcards will have more features and bigger memory space than the smartcards of any other country.

Election commission secretary Sirajul Islam, additional secretary Mukhlesur Rahman and public relations director were among others present at the conference.
