DHAKA: Bangladesh expressed deep shock and condolences at the death of Saudi Arabia's king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in separate condolence messages on Friday, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
In a massage, Hasina said, “I, on behalf of the people and the Government of Bangladesh, and on my own behalf, express to you and through you to the brotherly people and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia our deepest condolences at the sad demise of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.”
“At the passing away of King Abdullah, while Bangladesh has lost one of her great caring brothers and generous well-wishers, the Muslim Ummah has lost its guardian and the world has lost a great leader. The loss is irreparable,” she added.
Hasina also conveyed the sadness and grief of the people of Bangladesh to the Royal family and the fraternal people of the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Leader of the Opposition in parliament Begum Raushan Ershad and Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia also mourned the demise of king Abdullah.
The king of Saudi Arabia Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud passed away early Friday. He was 90.
Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, 79, becomes the new Saudi king and Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz is the new crown prince.
