NARSINGDI: Angry locals lynched at least seven suspected robbers in Bhatpara area under Sadar upazila of the district early Monday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Narsingdi police superintendent Amena Begum confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Locals said that some 12-15 people were preparing for robbery in Panchdona area at dawn.

Sensing the probable robbery, the villagers, being alerted by the public address system of mosque to catch the robbers, cordoned the area.

‘Robbers’ blasted couple of cocktails to create panic. At one stage, seven alleged robbers were killed in mob beating in the area.

Some intact cocktails were also recovered from the spot, said police sources.

The bodies were left abandoned on a paddy field in the area.

On information, police rushed to the spot and are investigating the matter, said Abul Kashem, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Thana.
