GAZIPUR: Miscreants hurled a cocktail in front of deputy commissioner’s (DC) office in Gazipur Tuesday noon amid the 72-hour nationwide hartal and indefinite blockade.

However, none was injured in this incident while police arrested one suspected following the blast.

The arrestee is identified as Ramzan Ullah, 20, son of Firoz Mollah, resident of Kamaria village under Gazipur Sadar upazila.

Sources said the cocktail was blasted around 12:00 noon in front of Gazipur DC office while some of the local journalists were attending a human chain program, as a protest of filing a ‘fake’ case against a reporter.

Confirming the matter, Joydebpur Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Hasan said that police, in this connection, have already arrested one suspected from the spot.

“We are investigating the matter whether he was really involved or not,” he said.
