DHAKA: At least six people, including three police members, sustained bullet injuries in a gunfight with robbers while they were fleeing after robbing a house in city’s Badda area on Tuesday.
The injured police members are Constable Abdus Salam and Constable Abul Kalam and inspector (investigation) Quamrul Faruk.
Badda Thana Officer-in-charge (OC) MA Jalil confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He said a group of miscreants entered the house of Mercantile Insurance DMD Firoj Kabir in Gudaraghat Link Road area in Badda around 1:00pm.
The robbers attempted to rob Tk 2.60 lakh cash, $3000, 5/7 tolas gold, two mobile phone sets and two cameras by making three family members hostage at a gunpoint.
On information, the law enforcers rushed to the spot and chased the robbers in the area.
At one stage, both group locked into a gunfight, leaving six people including three law enforcers and three dacoits, injured with gunshots.
The injured police members were whisked off to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital.
Later, police detained five robbers and seized a car, two-round bullets, magazines, two machetes and two knives from the detainees.
Owner of the house, Firoj Kabir, claimed his driver Shahidul is involved in the incident and he will file a case in this connection.
