DHAKA: US President Barack Obama discussed Bangladesh issues with Indian Premier Narendra Modi during his tour to New Delhi on the occasion of Indian Republic Day.
A source of White House said it is believed that the two leaders discussed on different issues including democratic force and people’s empowerment of Bangladesh.
"Obviously, the situation in Bangladesh is a tense one, but I think the two leaders during this visit were able to point to the power of democratic forces and what it can do to empower all of its citizens”, said Phil Reiner, Senior Director, South Asia Affairs at the National Security Council of the White House, at a press conference.
"I think this is an ongoing conversation that we've seen between the two leaders and one that we take very seriously and would continue to promote," he noted
Phil Reiner said these at a press conference titled "Readout From President Obama's Trip to India: Perspectives on US-India Relations” at foreign press center on Tuesday.
The White House senior official said, "One of the things that I was able to see in terms of the conversation between the President and the Prime Minister was the role that India's democratic process and the example that it sets can play."
